I blew the dust of my blogspot... TA-DA!

Been a while, been busy with life and totally forgetting to update my blog.  so here we are.  There was a tournament in the spring that I wanted to go to, the Kalm Before the Waaaagh!  (a very awesome tournament BTW), but I wanted to go with a 100% painted force.  So I tallied up the d'orks that I had on hand painted and came up with a list around that.  Was it competitive?  no, not really, but I am more of a fun player versus a "IMMA KICK YOUR ASS WITH MAH AWESOMEZ LIST" sort of player. Give me a beer (or 12) and good convo, and BOOM instant fun time gaming.... But I digress, here's the stuff I worked on:
I needed Nobz.. so I churned these out.   They were a little rushed, but I'm still pleased with the end result.

Of course, you can't have Nobz without a Painboy. I had a GW stock one, but I thought it a bit bland, so I grabbed a spare Nob and went to customizing.  It's a bit of a departure from the run of the mill Painboy, but I like the feel of this one and, well dammit, it's pretty unique.

Still needing to bolster my list, I thought that Kommandos and Snikrot would be a cool addition.  I took my traditional checkerboard pattern and applied it to the squad, but in the spirit of them being 'sneaky' (well as sneaky as an ork can be I suppose), and made it a darker variation.  Again with the customization, I didn't feel like buying even more models when I've got 100+ boyz hanging out wanting to be assembled.  So I kit bashed a Tamia (sp) WWII US truck accessories sprue with the boyz and some greenstuff and plasticard to come up with my Kommandos.

Lastly, I needed a warboss- but with the time running out, literally hours before the day long tournament, I finished the warboss.  I hadn't really paid attention to how horrid his paint job is/was until quite some time after the tournament.  But I really haven't wanted to strip him down and repaint him either- so he's still around to remind me of what a rush paint job looks like and to not do it again.

Great tournament, great people, and it was truly an experience.  Stay tuned for more!
